Mahikeng elects a strong regional executive

All the Amakhosi Supporter Branches in the North West province’s Mahikeng region came together at the Redibone Middle School in Mafikeng on Sunday.

Kaizer Chiefs Supporters Relationship Manager Tracy Williams opened the meeting with an update about the supporters club. She mentioned, for example, how a rejuvenated Amakhosi Supporters Club will probably be launched at the start of the new season.

Other topics discussed were game attendance, how supporters have to be the twelfth man for the team on match days and the option to engage with the Club on the various social media platforms.

“Information is power, especially having the correct information,” explained Williams. “We don’t want ourselves to be informed by misguided people who spread gossip and breed negativity.”

After Amakhosi’s last league fixture against Polokwane City, a small section of the crowd invaded the field after the match.

“I can understand that we all want to celebrate having won the league title thanks to our 4-1 win over Polokwane,” comments Williams. “However, it’s wrong to do this by entering the pitch, because that’s a criminal offence.”

“I also want to reiterate the importance of branches playing a role to fight fong kong, illegal merchandise.”

The Mahikeng election was supported by the Bojanala Region Executive Committee members, who turned out in full force, including their strategic advisor Ruben Radebe and chairman David Mafora.

“It’s amazing to see our supporters family standing together like this,” concluded Williams, before adding: “We would like to congratulate the newly elected committee members of the Mahikeng region. A strong leadership has been selected and, as a result of this, the region will grow from strength to strength over the next three years, fuelled by their love and passion for Kaizer Chiefs!”

Meanwhile, the southern region will be holding elections on Friday, May 1, in Potchefstroom at the Bonang Conference Centre, starting at 11:00, and the provincial elections will be held in Rustenburg on Saturday, May 2, at the Olympia Stadium, starting at 11:00.
