The man was apprehended over the weekend following some tireless efforts from the concerned supporters. The suspect was traced to a tavern wearing one of the items from the stolen bags.
Two PE branch members Madoda Mona (chairman) and Lindile Geleba followed the man and became suspicious when he started talking about how it easy to get certain things in life. Three bags that belonged to Chiefs officials with valuable items were stolen from the bus on May 25.
The two alerted the local police who then apprehended the suspect. The club is still awaiting confirmation about the court date.
"This is a huge breakthrough and encouraging to note how supporters have worked tirelessly to bring the culprits to book. It is also pleasing that the supporters did not take the law into their hands upon realising that the man could be responsible for the break-in," said Chiefs PR Manager Putco Mafani.
"It also shows that our supporters take the slogan of Love and Peace seriously and we would like to commend them for that," he said.
