Kaizer Chiefs midfielder has expressed joy at his current form. The 25-year-old Kwaggafontein player is currently joint-leading goal scorer in the PSL league with four goals scored in seven outings.

He was selected as the Absa Premiership Player of the Month of August. Masango draws a lot of inspiration from his parents and credits his teammates for supporting him when the chips were down.

What has changed in your life this season?

I think the eagerness to succeed. The likes of Tsepo Masilela, Morgan Gould, Itumeleng Khune and the rest of my teammates have influenced the improvement in my performance. My teammates believe in my abilities. I receive a lot of advice from my teammates and that has helped me a lot.

What has inspired your rise in form this season?

I think it is my time to shine. It is all about God’s grace and timing.

What do you do in your spare time?

I am studying Project Management at Boston City Campus. I want to have a solid background when my soccer career comes to an end. It is not easy due to the team schedule though. I have already bagged a General Management Diploma last year.

Do you have a club that you support overseas?

I love Barcelona and follow Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Chelsea.

Do you have a player that you admire overseas?

Messi, Iniesta and Xavi are my favourite players. They are humble despite their achievements in soccer. Messi, for example, has achieved a lot, but he is still humble. He continues to work hard despite his individual accolades.

How do you feel now that you are scoring regularly?

It feels good as long as I contribute to the success of the team. I speak to the goalkeepers to analyse the goalkeepers’ weaknesses.

Tell us about who influences your performance?

Foremost, I am working harder. I will continue to work hard for myself and the team. My mother is very happy, we go through prayers all the time to support my game. We share a lot about my career. My father is a Buccaneer but still he gives me advice. He was the first one to congratulate me after we beat Pirates in the MTN 8 Cup, blood is thicker than water.

You are called up for Bafana Bafana against Congo, how do you feel?

It shows perseverance pays. It's an honour and a privilege to play for the national team. My mother couldn’t believe it when she heard my name. Everyone is happy to see me playing in the national team, it has been my childhood dream to don the national colours at the highest level.

You have won MTN 8 Cup, how will that affect you going into TKO this weekend?

It is going to be a tough match. We are under pressure as all eyes are on us. We are pushing each other every day as if we have not won anything. It will be great to beat them, but it will not be a walk in the park. It is a cup and a knockout match for that matter, we will do our best.

Kaizer Chiefs welcome Maritzburg United in the Last 16 of the Telkom Knockout Challenge this weekend. The match is billed for Saturday, 4 October 2014 at the FNB Stadium. Kickoff is at 20:15. Tickets are sold at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers for R40 and R10 for adults and juveniles respectively.
