Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebogang Manyama is determined to put his personal injury battles this season behind him, and to play his part in ensuring a strong end to the season for Amakhosi.

“I missed a huge chunk of the season. I was struggling with my knee, but it’s good to be back and training with the boys. I am trying to get better and better every day. It is difficult to catch up with the other guys, because games keep on coming and coming and coming. I am getting there slowly, but surely. My knee is stronger now and I will be back to my best soon,” a determined Manyama said ahead of this weekend’s away DStv Premiership encounter against Baroka FC.

Manyama has forced his way back into contention for the first team squad after his injury battles, and while he’s fully aware Baroka have been a tough nut to crack for Chiefs in the past, he is fully focused on the job at hand of getting a win on the road.

“History is always there, good or bad. I don’t focus on it. We can’t really care about what happened before, all we should care about is what we do on Saturday and going forward. We need to make sure that we apply ourselves in the right way and play the way we have been training and get maximum points,” said a business-like Manyama.

The Chiefs attacker feels the team are up for the challenge up north in a game which kicks off at 19h30 on Saturday evening at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, and that a win is crucial.

“Our preparations have been going well. We know what is at stake. We are looking for our first win of the year. It will give us confidence going into the next fixtures in the tougher months ahead,” concludes Manyama.
