Lucky Baloyi has been rewarded for his performances for the Glamour Boys this season by getting nominated for Absa HOT Young Player of the season.

‘Sheriff’ as Baloyi is affectionately known is a product of Kaizer Chiefs Development got promoted to the first team during 2009/2010 season where he played under the tutelage of the likes of Ntsie Maphike and Doctor Khumalo.

The Polokwane born midfielder made 30 appearances for the Glamour Boys this season scoring three league goals and a stunner against Cape Town All Stars in the Nedbank Cup.

His former Coach at the Development Ntsie Maphike spoke to kaizerchiefs.com about Baloyi’s nomination; “He is a highly disciplined player. I know him well - having worked with him from U15 up until he got promoted to the first team.

I have been following his progress in the senior team and I am not surprised he got nominated as one of the best young players in the league this season.

He brings a lot more to the team than defensive work. He is a player who can spray those passes and slow the game down at times. He also has a knack of scoring goals from a distance. He has a bright future ahead of him and I have no doubt that he will win the award later this month,” added Maphike.

Baloyi is the only player nominated from Kaizer Chiefs in the end of the season PSL awards taking place in Johannesburg later this month.
