Back at training Masango is grateful to have had the time off as he said to kaizerchiefs.com on Tuesday afternoon, “it was good planning on the part of the coach to have allowed me to have last week off. I was active with the national U-23’s when most of the other guys were on holiday.
"I am grateful to the coach for understanding that I needed a rest and for affording me the chance to do so.”
Masango did the various medical and fitness tests with his Chiefs teammates two weeks back but as he was off last week, Monday was his first full training session in a week and as he explains he is feeling good.
“I have had two days of training Monday and Tuesday and I must say that I am feeling good, not really tired or anything like that as I expected to be.”
Masango has now turned his attention to this coming Saturday’s Vodacom challenge clash against Tottenham Hotspur, and he is looking forward with relish to facing the English Premier League side.
“This is an important game for us against Spurs, we get to face them in a competitive setting and it will be a useful test for us.
"There is no such a thing as a friendly game for us, Spurs would not want to be shown up by us and we want to kick off our season on a winning note so there is everything to play for.”
Masango did feature in the 2009 Vodacom Challenge when Chiefs defeated Manchester City in the final, and does feel that the Amakhosi will be able to match up to Spurs on Saturday afternoon in Polokwane.
“This is going to be my third Vodacom Challenge, I was fortunate enough to win the tournament in 2009 and I know that it does a lot for our confidence if we manage to pick up silver ware early in the season.
"We have players who have been playing in international matches regularly for their national team’s, I do feel that experience will help us when we face Spurs on Saturday. The technical team has been thorough with our preparations which will definitely be an added advantage for us on Saturday.”
