Amakhosi left back Punch Masenamela has kept his mind focused all week long on Chiefs much awaited MTN8 Semi – Final Second Leg encounter with Orlando Pirates, and has refused to be distracted ahead of the titanic clash.

Masenamela is aware that he is going to have a busy afternoon on Sunday at the FNB Stadium as Pirates will come hard at Chiefs.

Taking on the Pirates midfield and attack is a task he feels he will be up to come Sunday. “I believe we are ready for them” explained the 23-year-old.

Masenamela added that, “Pirates are very dangerous when on the attack through the middle or down the wings so you have to be prepared for them, these are the kind of games where your resolve as well as both your mental and physical strength is tested.”

In the current campaign Masenamela has made the left back slot at Chiefs his and he holds the view that his childhood ambitions of one day playing for the Amakhosi have driven him towards realizing his longstanding goal of being a Chiefs player.

“At times I have been overwhelmed by the fact that I am playing for Chiefs, because I worked so hard to get here and because it is every player's dream to play for Chiefs. I will continue double my efforts to ensure I can keep on playing regularly.

From the outside people really do not get to see this but within the team we have a good support structure and the coach is also very supportive and encourages and motivates us all the time to play at our best” concluded the defender.”

With the media spotlight all week on the meeting between the two Soweto giants, Masenamela has opted to take an undercover approach in the lead up to the game, as he said of this “when we have not been training I spent most of my time indoors at home just relaxing and keeping the game in mind.

I watched a few DVD’s some of my past matches as well all with the target of being at my best should I play on Sunday.”
