Masha says pressure is everywhere

"Everything is going well for us, the attention is on us and we are aware of the situations we are in," says the Kaizer Chiefs defender Tefu 'Masha' Mashamaite. Masha was speaking at a Media Open Day ahead of the TKO Last 16 match between Kaizer Chiefs and Maritzburg United taking place this Saturday night at FNB Stadium.

Mashamaite has been captaining the team in the past two games and his consistent performances have earned him a Man of the Match when Chiefs beat Platinum Stars in a league game in August.

Playing Maritzburg United in a space of a week is reminiscent of Chiefs back to back matches against Platinum Stars in the MTN 8 and league matches in August. Mash says, "It's a good thing to play the same team for us after we have gained experience when we played back to back against Plat Stars in the MTN8 and league game."

The talk around soccer circle has been all about pressure on the winning Kaizer Chiefs, Masha brushes that aside, "Pressure is everywhere. At the bottom and at the top it's the same everywhere. It is a matter of how we handle that pressure."

Most pundits say winning the MTN 8 Cup will cause complacency in the Chiefs camp?

Winning the MTN 8 is good achievement for the Club and I mean it's also a good taste. Winning is the only thing you can enjoy in sports. We have to keep on working hard."

He continues, "Teams want to knock us out. So we have to be aware of that. Playing them twice will make it a different ball game against the same team. It's a matter of hunting or be hunted. The plan this season is to grind and grind and move on and take each game at the time."

Gates open at 17:00 and the match will kickoff at 20:15. Tickets are sold for R40 and R10 at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide.
