Mashiane, Shabalala and Lilepo start against Gallants

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has brough Happy Mashiane, Mduduzi Shabalala and Glody Lilepo back into the starting line-up as Amakhosi face Marumo Gallants in a Betway Premiership match at the FNB Stadium. Kick-off is 15:00.

The team has been boosted by the return of Mashiane at left back, who will complete a somewhat unfamiliar back-four, alongside Bradley Cross, Zitha Kwinika, and Dillon Solomons.

With Chiefs missing the presence of Gaston Sirino and Pule Mmodi who are both serving a one-match suspensions, the midfield will be anchored by the skipper Yusuf Maart, who will link up with Shabalala and Thabo Cele in the engine room.

Ashley du Preez and Lilepo will start out wide, while Wandile Duba will lead the attack through the centre.

In the previous match between Chiefs and Gallants, the Soweto giants secured all three points with a 2-1 win. Although that victory was much earlier in the season, the Glamour Boys are inspired by that result to complete a clean sweep against their opponents for the 2024/25 campaign.

The team, currently eighth on the log, has maintained consistency in the standings. This match is crucial for Amakhosi as they aim to collect maximum points and build on the momentum to ensure a top-eight finish come end of the season. A win would be a significant boost, especially ahead of their highly anticipated next league match, a Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates, which will be followed by the Nedbank Cup final between the same two rivals seven days later.
