“Three points is all we talk about,” revealed Mathebula.
“This game is more important to us than Bay United because we want to close the gap between us and the team in front of us in the log. We will be going all out by attacking them from the first minute.
“It is our home game, so we will be looking at scoring first and putting them under pressure. This will open them up as we going to force them to make mistakes at the back,” he said.
“DVD”, as the player is affectionately known, said he and his teammates are not worried by a threat posed by the former players who are currently donning the Bay United jersey. Arthur Bartman, Cyril Nzama and Patrick Mayo have all played for Kaizer Chiefs in the recent seasons.
“That can work to our advantage. We have played with them for years so we know their weaknesses. The fact that they are playing at the back is a plus factor for us. We are aware that Bay United is desperate for points. A point for them in this game will mean a lot for us - it would be a set back,” he said.
DVD who came close to clinching the Absa Premiership Player of the Month said he wants to finish on a high before Christmas recess.
“If I play well, it is good for the team. I have been working very hard this week in making sure that I play well - not only for myself, but for the benefit of the team. Personally, I want to finish on a high note as far as my game is concerned,” he added.
The Glamour Boys go to the Sunday game as overwhelming favourites having collected 9 points in their last five games while Bay United only collected a single point.
