Three main factors namely, tight schedule, injuries and suspensions have forced Kaizer Chiefs coach Gavin Hunt to make a number of changes for this afternoon’s match against Stellenbosch FC. Amakhosi will be without captain Ramahlwe Mphahlele who was stretchered off early in the first half of Tuesday’s game against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila. Another player missing from the team sheet is Lebohang Lesako who came on as a second half substitute on Tuesday. He did not last long on the pitch and was taken out after a few minutes due to injury. Senior player Bernard Parker will also miss the game after being shown a red card on Tuesday.
The good news is that Mulomowandau Mathoho and Reeve Frosler are back in the team after missing a number of games. Mathoho was given time off to deal with his late father’s bereavement and Frosler was out with injury since November 2020. Mathoho will start the game while Frosler will sit on the bench.
Daniel Akpeyi will be in goal once again after keeping a clean sheet in Tuesday’s 3-0 drubbing of TTM.
In defence, Mathoho will be replacing the injured captain Mphahlele. He will be paired with Daniel Cardoso at the centre of the defence. Philani Zulu will again play at left-back and Siyabonga Ngezana replacing Kgotso Moleko at right-back.
In midfield, Anthony Akumu Agay will partner Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, while Happy Mashiane will play on the left wing and Darrel Matsheke on the right. Mashiane replaces Dumsani Zuma in midfield.
Amakhosi’s attacking duo will be Lebogang Manyama and Samir Nurković. Manyama replaces Leonardo Castro.
The referee of the match is Victor Hlungwani. He will be assisted by Kamohelo Ramotsindela and Lalelani Mngadi. The match’s fourth official is Msimeleli Mabuto.
The DStv Premiership tie between Stellies and Amakhosi will kick off 17:00 at the Danie Craven Stadium in Stellenbosch. No spectators will be allowed in the stadium.. The game will be live on SuperSport Channel 202 and various SABC stations, with updates of the match on Twitter @KaizerChiefs.
