Defenders Mulomowandau Mathoho and Kgotso Moleko will start their first game of the season after recovering from injuries that saw them miss Kaizer Chiefs’ first 4 matches of the 2020/21 season. Moleko was on the bench for the first of the season against Maritzburg United before his injury, while Mathoho was on the bench on Saturday against Orlando Pirates after his recovery.
There is a total of four changes that coach Gavin Hunt has made to the starting line-up this evening when compared with Saturday’s team. Mathoho replaces Siyabonga Ngezana, Moleko is on for Ramahlwe Mphalele, Willard Katsande comes on for Kearyn Baccus and Leonardo Castro makes way for Bernard Parker.
The game is the first meeting between the two sides in the DStv Premiership after TS Galaxy acquired Highlands Park’s Premiership status.
Daniel Akpeyi retains his position in goals for Amakhosi.
He will be supported by the back four that’s made of up Moleko on the right, Mathoho and Daniel Cardoso at the centre of Amakhosi’s defence and Philani Zulu at left-back.
Njabulo Blom will work with Willard Katsande in the middle of the park, while Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Lebogang Manyama will be supporting and linking up with the attackers.
The attacking duo of Khama Billiat and Parker will be trusted with scoring goals for the home team.
The referee is Tshidiso Mkwanazi. He will be assisted by Khamusi Razwimisani and Luyanda Nondala. The fourth official is Philip Thinyani.
This first DStv Premiership meeting between Amakhosi and The Rockets will kick-off at 19:30 at FNB Stadium.
