ABSA Premiership
Polokwane City v Kaizer Chiefs
16 April 2014
Peter Mokaba Stadium
19:30
Erick Mathoho scored the opener within five minutes of the whistle when the Amakhosi brushed aside Polokwane City when they met previously. It was also the first time that Chiefs had played the Polokwane based outfit in the Absa Premiership.
Kingston Nkhatha bagged one goal and Bernard Parker scored a brace to set Kaizer Chiefs on course for a 4-1 demolition of Polokwane City at FNB Stadium on 27th of November 2013.
Mathoho smiled when kaizerchiefs.com reminded him about the demolishing job over City in Johannesburg:
"I remember when we beat them 4 - 1 at FNB Stadium. We are prepared to repeat the same rout at Peter Mokaba Stadium. We are ready for the game,"
Is it going to be like a walk?
"Not a chance. Even the last time we beat them it was tough. We don't have the luxury of playing in easy games. All the teams come to us motivated to cause an upset and to prove a point. This one is going to be intense because they want to avoid relegation,"
The league race is on:
"We are in it. We will give it our all to fight until we lift the trophy. We want something to show for the hard work we put in this tough season. It is our league and we can't just let it go without a fight,"
Playing at Peter Mokaba Stadium:
"Polokwane is our happy hunting ground. It's an away game but at our alternative ground. We want to improve the chances of defending our title. We have a huge following there. My family and friends always come to support us."
The Venda born 'Tower', as he is affectionately known, was speaking to kaizerchiefs.com ahead of the Wednesday night clash.
Tickets for the highly anticipated clash are sold at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets at R40. No tickets will be sold at the stadium.
