Kaizer Chiefs defender Erick Mathoho scored his first international goal for Bafana Bafana with a neatly taken header against Honduras early this morning (the game kicked off at 02:00, South African time).

The goal came after eight minutes of play from a well-taken corner by Jabulani Shongwe.

Honduras’ equaliser came in the 12th minute through Mathoho's namesake Erick Andino. Ironically, this goal was also a header.

Amakhosi’s winger George Lebese came on as 56th min substitute for Shongwe.

Bafana Bafana will return home from their Central American trip with a win (1-0 over Costa Rica) and a draw (Honduras).

Honduras: Noel, Crisanto, Velásquez, Maynor, Oseguera, Mejía, Morazán, Martínez, Andino, Discua, Rubilio.

South Africa: Khune, Ngcongca, Coetzee, Mathoho, Lebusa (Daniels 16'), Jali, Mokotjo, Masango, Serero (Vilakazi 24'), Shongwe (Lebese 56'), Patosi.
