Matle who joined Kaizer Chiefs first team a year ago started at Kaizer Chiefs development.
He was deployed on the right side of the defence ahead of captain, Jimmy Tau who watched the proceedings from the bench.
“It feels good to have finally made my debut for this great Club. I want to thank everyone who kept on saying, “your chance will come”, said Matle speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Monday morning.
Matle started a bit slow and was troubled by the skill of Collins Mbesuma and the experience of Sibusiso Zuma but later found his footing and played his normal game.
“I was bit shaky at the beginning because I wanted to do well. I am lucky at Chiefs to be surrounded by senior players who encouraged me to play my normal game and not to try too much. I calmed down and started playing the way I know how. It was a huge win for us as a team. We all played well and credit should go to everyone for the win,” he said.
“The coach was happy with my performance. I am now hoping to build for Sunday’s performance and keep my place in the team. I know that it will not be easy as I am facing competition in no less that three players who can also play well in that position,” he concluded.
