While a lot of talking has been done by Manchester United’s players ahead of their tour to South Africa which will commence on Saturday when the Red Devils begin their tour to the country with their opening game against Orlando Pirates in Durban.

While many commentators believe that although United might not be bringing their strongest team to the country, the prospect of coming up against the most well supported team in the country might be a daunting one for many in the Chiefs squad.

Speaking from Chiefs base outside Cape Town, defender Fabian McCarthy is of the chain of thought that the prospect of facing United is not a daunting one but a challenging one.

McCarthy also believes that United have a number of experienced campaigners in their team the likes of Ryan Giggs, Wes Brown and Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, who have amassed a number of international footballing accolades.

Deserve recognition and respect for their numerous achievements, but that respect will be reserved for outside of the game situation as McCarthy adds “our team consist of a number of players who have achieved a lot in the South African domestic soccer scene and they have the experience to give Manchester United a good go on Tuesday”.

Amakhosi central defender signalled out a number of Amakhosi’s experienced campaigner when commenting as to who Chiefs key men will be in Tuesday’s clash “from our side our captain Cyril Nzama who has played in a FIFA World Cup and Jimmy Tau will go along way in helping us keep shape at the back”.

Fabian also believes new signing Shaun Bartlett who is well acquainted with the United defenders, holds the key to unravelling United up front “Shaun has played in England for the past few seasons, he knows them very well I have got some advise from hi as to how I should deal with them and I will put the tips he has given me to good use on Tuesday”.

Apart from the Manchester United old guard, Fabian is aware of the threat posed by the American born Italian striking sensation in the United team Giuseppe Rossi “I saw Rossi play in United’s final game of last season against Charlton.

A lot has been said about him and from the little I have seen, he looks like he can be a handful for defenders; you know that is the game of soccer if you want to measure yourself you need to do it by putting in big performances when you come up against the best players in the world”.

With Chiefs playing United after they have met Pirates, Fabian believes that a Pirates victory will go along way towards assisting in formulating a game plan towards helping Chiefs achieve what could be a historical first ever victory over an English Premier League team.
