A free goal scoring striker in his heyday, McGregor won three league titles with Kaizer Chiefs. He was also part of the Class of 92 that won the double.
In 1991 season he formed a deadly partnership with his strike partner, Fani Madida scoring 54 goals between them – a partnership regarded as the best ever during the NSL era.
“Kaizer never interfered with what the Coaches use to do. I take my hat off to him for that…He knew what he was doing. He was brilliant, a very humble man. He is still humble and the success of Kaizer Chiefs,” said McGregor speaking to SuperSport’s Mzansi Legend.
The former striker who singled out Tinashe Nengomasha as his current favourite player at Chiefs for his “work ethic” also paid a tribute to the former Coach, Jeff Butler who was a mastermind behind Club’s success in the late 80s and early 90s.
“Jeff got the Club playing as a unit, as a team. We had brotherhood. I tried to teach Doctor (Khumalo) how to swim several times but never succeeded,” he added with a smile.
Shane left the Glamour Boys in 1994 after a glittering five years with the Club.
