Kaizer Chiefs Reserves will face Maritzburg United Reserves in a MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) game at Daveyton’s Sinaba Stadium on Saturday, 9 December (kick-off is at 12:00).
Chiefs beat Chippa United 3-0 in their last clash, thanks to a brace from Reamohetse ‘Shimmy’ Lekoatsa and a goal from Bongani Mabena.
The 18-year-old Lekoatsa has now scored three times in five starts this season.
“Shimmy is a versatile attacker,” Chiefs’ reserve team coach Arthur Zwane comments. “He’s a great finisher, who can play both as a striker or a winger. He’s very good in taking defenders on.”
About the upcoming match against Maritzburg, Zwane says: “A lot of their players are members of United’s first team squad. They are a solid side. It will be an interesting match. We have mostly very young players. However, I am convinced that our boys will be able to compete come Saturday.”
Maritzburg United are in third position on the MDC log, having collected 18 points from eight matches, while Amakhosi are in 13th position on seven points from eight games.
It will be the last MDC game this year, with the league commencing again on Saturday, 13 January, when Chiefs’ reserve side will play SuperSport United.
“The Maritzburg match is the last in 2017,” coach Zwane concludes, “we want to finish the year on a high.”
