On just the second day and the first official working day of 2008, various forms of media were hard at work looking for clues as to who could be adding their names to The Amakhosi’s roster for the remainder of the season.
A number of names have been bandied about with both players from within the PSL and a handful from across the continent, being linked with speculatory moves to Chiefs.
Amakhosi team manager Bobby Motaung, who like the rest of the Chiefs administrative staff is on leave until the 7th January, has stated that The Amakhosi will set the record straight when normal service resumes at the Chiefs Village in Naturena on Monday.
No Stars contact
Fanyana Dhladhla the Free State Stars striker is one of a list of players being linked with a January move to Chiefs. It was confirmed to kaizerchiefs.com by the Chiefs team manager that there has been no communication between Chiefs and any representative of the player.
Motaung sounded surprised when informed by kaizerchiefs.com of Chiefs alleged interest in the Stars players, a bewildered Chiefs team manager said “this really is news to me and I will say that we have not at any time expressed any interest in the player nor have we spoken to his club about a possible transfer”.
Isaacs broken link
Along with Dhladhla reference was also made indicating that Ajax Cape Town defender Dominic Isaacs could also be moving up to Gauteng during the transfer period. Motaung though reiterated the point that The Amakhosi will once the office reopens make the necessary announcements. As he said “we do urge our fans not to read much in to all of this speculation and we will in due course set the record straight so to say”.
