Vodacom last night hosted Kaizer Chiefs together with European giants, Manchester United in a private function held at a plushy Cape Grace Hotel in Cape Town. The function was attended by top officials both from Kaizer Chiefs and Manchester United.

In attendance to the private function was the Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Kaizer Motaung, Manchester United Chiefs Executive Officer, Mr. David Gill, Brandt de Villiers from SAIL, Jessica Motaung Marketing Director at Kaizer Chiefs, Ken Ramsden Manchester United Club Secretary, and representatives from all the Vodacom Challenge sponsors.

Club’s Marketing Director, Jessica Motaung believes that the relationship between the two giants is growing as this is their third meeting. Manchester United first encounter with Kaizer Chiefs was in 1993.

“It was a significant function for many ways but more importantly the two giants meeting on the same day Tata Nelson Mandela was celebrating his 90th birthday and 10th wedding anniversary with Graca. We were all in a celebratory mood” she said.

“The night was about exchanging gifts and one of the gifts we gave to Manchester United was a framed Madiba picture commemorating his 90th birthday and showing a picture of him in the Kaizer Chiefs jersey and receiving his own Kaizer Chiefs jersey. We received a “Friendship in Football” gift. The night was also about exchanging ideas and a pleasant evening was enjoyed by all,” added Jessica.
