Ladies and Gentlemen, it gives me great pleasure to welcome all of you to this edition of our Annual Players' Awards function for the 2002/2003 Season.

First of all I would like to acknowledge the presence of our Partners here tonight, the players and their spouses and most importantly our supporters.

Whilst in most soccer lovers eyes Kaizer Chiefs may not have achieved excellence on the field of play, most people are unaware of how much we have achieved off the field.

As a business and as a brand, Kaizer Chiefs has grown in leaps and bounds this season and being chosen to represent Africa in the Peace King Cup in Korea, bears testimony to that. We have not strayed from our globalization strategy and are well on our way to becoming a brand identifiable the world over.

Our commercialization strategy is unparallel in South African sport, to the extend that Kaizer Chiefs has been quoted as being the most successful black owned business in South Africa. Considering the hardship and struggles of our country's past, Kaizer Chiefs has managed to rise against all odds to become a force to be reckoned with.

A special word of thanks goes to our sponsors and partners that believe in the strength of our brand and have contributed in making Kaizer Chiefs what it is today.

Thank you for being part of our family.

To our Amakhosi supporters, thank you for your patients, passion, support and loyalty. Not only did you register the highest figures in terms of attendance at both home and away games of the Premier Soccer League this season but you continuously support us in all our commercial ventures and endeavors. Our supporters fully embrace the essence of our values of Love & Peace. Thank you. Amakhosi-4-Life!

Thank you to the players and technical staff who, in time of difficulties lived up to the occasion and gave their best. A special word of thanks particularly goes to Donald "Ace" Khuse and Doctor Khumalo, who without hesitation took it upon themselves to lead our team for the past 6 months.

Thank you for accepting this enormous task and responsibility. You have shown character and good leadership skills worthy of the next generation of South African coaches.

I would also like to take this opportunity to welcome our new coach Mr. Ted Dumitru and our new signings. Welcome to the Amakhosi family.

I wish the coach, the technical staff and players all the best for the new season and for the forthcoming tournaments. I am sure that you live up to the Chiefs name and standards, by performing to the best of your abilities and bringing home what belongs to Kaizer Chiefs and its supporters.

To all the nominees good luck for the awards and to all our invited guests, thank you for attending and hope you enjoy the evening.

Love & Peace

Kaizer Motaung
