Mnqithi sings Vermezovic’s praises

Vladimir Vermezovic received words of encouragement on Tuesday from an ‘unlikely source’, his counterpart at Golden Arrows, Manqoba Mnqithi, who praised the Serbian mentor’s philosophy in the game.

Kaizer Chiefs needed to win the game against Golden Arrows on Tuesday night at Moses Mabhida Stadium but the draw has not helped the Glamour Boys’ challenge for league honours.

“In my opinion he is one of the better coaches in the league, who is always willing to play positively,” said the Golden Arrows coach speaking to kaizerchiefs.com shortly after the goalless draw.

“He likes his players to knock the ball around, something that I admire as a coach. Personally I admire his approach and his system of play. They made it difficult for us to start building attacks from the back, as they would send about three players immediately when we started build ups. I also like the way his team turns defense into attack and vise versa. The game itself was a game of two halves but you can see what he is trying to do,” said Mnqithi.

“I think at times our players, due to lack of development, have limitations from a technical point of view and that cannot be his fault. I think he has done fairly well in a short space of time and has added a different approach to the local game -- something we as local coaches we should welcome,” said the MTN8-winning coach.
