Kaizer Chiefs beat Mochudi Centre Chiefs of Botswana 3 – 0 in the Botswana Challenge, on Saturday, 16 November 2013. The game was played at the National Stadium in Gaborone.

Coach Stuart Baxter used the game to keep his players active during the Fifa week and afford the opportunity to the other players that need game time to stay on par with the rest of the squad. The Coach was pleased with the outcome of the trip albeit glitches experienced with match proceedings and the torrential rain during the game.

“We got everybody in the squad to have some game time. We rested Kingston Nkhatha, Willard Katsande and Pa Gaxa due to a heavy schedule they endured in recent times. The fact that we won 3 – 0 and played good football at times is a good return. Lucky Baloyi got injured and rushed to hospital in the first half of the game. We also received reports of Tsepo Masilela getting injured at the National Team. The preliminary reports sounds like a groin injury. It is always a situation of wait and see when you send the players to the National Team, hopefully Tsepo’s injury is not bad. We pulled out Siyabonga Nkosi as a precaution. He got slightly injury around the Achilles area but that should not be too serious.

The stormy conditions were not good in terms of the rain causing the pitch to be slippery. Players such as Ivan Bukenya didn’t adapt perfectly to the conditions. Others such Philani Cele were able to adjust with his quicker feet. Lehlohonolo Majoro scored two goals and he must be pleased that he got himself in the score sheet. We allowed Major to have full match,” said Baxter.

Baxter further wished the Bafana Bafana players return to the Club unscathed in order to sharpen swords ahead of a battle against Platinum Stars this Saturday, 23 November 2013. The TKO Semifinal game will be played at the FNB Stadium. Kickoff is at 20:15.

Tickets are available at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers countrywide at R40 for adults and R10 for children under the age of 12.
