Club youngsters, reserve goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni, midfielder Bongane “Shakes” Sondlane and Tlou Molekwane affectionately known as “Spanner” featured in the tour to the exotic island. Ngobeni featured in the first game while Molekwane and Sondlane featured in both games.
“We played very well as a team in Seychelles. I played 90 minutes in both games and I was very happy with the contribution I made. The two games were very important for our preparations for the African Youth qualifying game against Botswana in two weeks time. We will first play them away so keeping a clean sheet away will be very important and then we will settle the fixture here at home,” he said.
Tlou Molekwane who was called to the senior national team by then coach, Stuart Baxter in 2004 said featuring for Amajita will provide him with the much needed match fitness as he hopes to catch Muhsin Ertugral’s eye this season.
Molekwane added, “The U20 games are helping me a lot in terms of match fitness. I need to be ready when I am called to do duty for the Club. I have been working very hard at training and I do talk a lot to Jimmy Tau who is helping me with my game. Time and again he will advise me on how I can improve my performance.”
