Veteran midfielder Thabo Mooki who has been sidelined by a calf strain says his latest setback has really frustrated him.

Mooki picked up the injury when Chiefs returned back to training on the 10th of January after being on holiday from the 22nd December.

“ It has really been a nuisance to sit and watch proceedings from the side lines, at this stage in my career I need to be playing regularly I have a couple of seasons worth of football in me so I want to play regularly ” said Thabo.

Speaking after Chiefs midweek lost to fellow title chasers Sundowns, Mooki is of the opinion that his team mates will lift themselves out of the slumber and will put up a match winning performance against Cosmos on Saturday. “In a season there will be disappointments. Our ability to forget about the Sundowns game and get back to winning ways will show we are championship material”.

Thabo who made his three hundredth appearance for Chiefs earlier in the season is still confident that the Amakhosi will take home a third straight title this season. “ We have what it takes to win the league again as we have been through this before and our experience will see us through”.

The creative and attack minded Mooki at the moment has one thing on his mind commenting “ I want to start playing again I am hoping to be back on the field of play as soon as possible. It will take me a couple of weeks and personally I am aiming to be ready by the time we play SuperSport United on the 11th March in the ABSA Cup. The rest will be up to the Doctors to decide”.

Thabo has been buoyed by the news from team Doctor Phil Maepa that he will be starting training early next week. “

Thabo’s recovery took a little longer because he was initially not responding to treatment. He is doing better now and he can begin training on Monday” encouraging news from team doctor Phil Maepa.

In other injury news, the team Doctor has said that goalkeeper Emile Baron needs to go for further X-rays to see how he has been progressing through his foot injury. Emile injured his foot while jogging on a beach in early January and his foot has been in a removable cast since mid January. There has been no update yet on when he will return to training as doctors are waiting to see what his x-rays will reveal on Monday.
