John ‘Shoes’ Moshoeu’s memorial service will be held today at the Grace Bible Church in Soweto at 12:00.
The South African and Kaizer Chiefs legend passed away earlier this week at the age of 49.
Before Wednesday’s clash between Amakhosi and Polokwane City, a minute of silence was observed in respect for Moshoeu.
After this Absa Premiership title winning match, Chiefs captain Tefu Mashamaite said about the former midfielder: “Our condolences to the Moshoeu family. We lost a legend. Shoes was my childhood hero. I vividly remember watching him play when we conquered the Africa Cup of Nations in 1996.
“He was one of those unsung heroes of South African soccer. We dedicate this league title to Shoes.”
