Kaizer Motaung JR handed Kaizer Chiefs a perfect Valentines gift with a brace as the Amakhosi piped 10 men Platinum Stars with 3-2 in an entertaining fixture played at Rustenburg’s Sports Palace on a sunny Sunday a day just before the Valentines Day.

The Glamour Boys were forced to come back from behind and the win might have sent a strong message to the doubting Thomasses about the club’s credentials to challenge for Absa Premiership this season.

Platinum Stars had a bright start with Thuso Phala having the easiest of tap in as early as 2nd minute following a superb run from teammate, Mduduzi Nyanda.

A minute earlier, Thuso Phala a former Kaizer Chiefs player had forced Itumeleng Khune who kept a clean sheet for Bafana Bafana against Kenya at the same stadium to make a double save.

Vladimir Vermezovic kept his faith to the Motaung JR – Musona partnership with 2 goal hero against Golden Arrows Sthembiso Ngcobo taking his place on the bench.

The move paid dividends as in the 27th minute with the crowd cheering the Amakhosi on Motaung JR levelled matters for the Glamour Boys with a superb header. This was following an equally superb cross from Siphiwe Tshabalala.

Valery Nahayo did find the back of the net in the 31th minute following a well played place kick but his effort was ruled offside by referee, Abdul Ebrahim.

In the 35th minute Thuso Phala was in the thick of things again as he completed his brace with a furious strike inside the 18-area following combination play with teammate Joseph Molangoane.

In the 45th minute goalkeeper, Tapuwa Kapini had to be at his best to save Siphiwe Tshabalala’s curler as Chiefs pressed hard for an equaliser.

The visitors, Kaizer Chiefs started the second half the same way they finished the first stanza with Abia Nale forcing a save out of Tapiwa Kaphini. This was following a superb pass from the hard working, Tinashe Nengomasha.

Then Motaung JR always deadly in the air came close in both the 57th and 59th but both headers went wide.

The Phefeni Glamour Boys were finally rewarded in the 61st minute when Reneilwe Letsholonyane scored with an easy tap in following superb work from Reneilwe Letsholonyane.

Five Minutes later on form, Kaizer Motaung JR grabbed the second brace of the afternoon with a well taken strike giving goalkeeper, Tapiwa Kapini no chance, 3-2 to the Glamour Boys.

The goal was the 5th for the re-energized Motaung JR in four games

Knowledge Musona looking for the 11th goal in the league this season watched his effort going just over the bar with Platinum Stars defence in sixes and sevens.

Abdulla Ebrahim hit a final nail on the Stars coffin when he sent midfielder, Solly Mathe in the stoppage time.

At the end of the day the Glamour Boys were deserving winners and they will be hoping to continue with their form when they meet Moroka Swallows at Loftus Stadium on Wednesday, 16 February 2011.
