Kaizer Motaung Jr has apologised to his teammates after he was sent off in the 2-0 Absa Premiership victory against defending champions SuperSport United on Sunday.

'Anelka' – as he is affectionately known, was given a straight red card for a slight push on United goalkeeper Wayne Brown on 57 minutes. “I have never been sent off in my football career…never!” said Motaung on Monday morning speaking to kaizerchiefs.com.

“I would like to take this opportunity first to apologise to my teammates. Playing with one man down made it harder for the guys out there. I would also like to send my apologies to the Technical Team and the entire Chiefs family.

“I am the first to admit that I should have handled that situation as a professional. At the end of the day, it was a good win for team and the guys showed lot of character winning the game while playing with one man down,” said Motaung.
