Kaizer Chiefs striker Kaizer Motaung JNR is pleased to have had his first taste of action for the new season, as he came off the bench during the Amakhosi’s 2-0 Absa Premiership Victory over Moroka Swallows on Wednesday evening.

Motaung is now hopeful of getting more game time in the months ahead as he explained to kaizerchiefs.com saying: “After the pre-season I had ten days out with a slight knock and then I had a bout of flu.

I am slowly getting back to full fitness and it was great to be part of the team on Wednesday, because they played great football and it is always nice to be part of a winning team.”

Getting his first run for the season was important for him and now Motaung his looking positively ahead to the rest of the campaign, “I was looking for as much game time as possible, I was pleased to get some time on the field, it was a good game to be involved in because we were creating a lot of chances up front".

Motaung added: "The first game is now under the belt and let’s see what happens in the Cup game and the League clash next week.”

The Amakhosi number seven played for the first time with one of his new strike partners Bernard Parker and said: “It is a very exciting prospect for us this season up front, having added Bernard to our team. If you look at all the attackers we have, we have an all round strong offense.”

Motaung, while letting on what Parker and Lehlohonolo Majoro who has scored in both of his Absa Premiership outings this past season have brought to the team, added by saying, “Majoro is a fantastic player, he is comfortable on the ball, he reminds me of my former teammate David Radebe a player is able to create space for himself.

Bernard is an experienced player; calm and quick on the ball also a skilful player, two real quality strikers to add to our group of strikers.”

Chiefs have won all three of their official fixtures of the new season and Motaung believes that they could not have scripted a better start to the new campaign, as he concluded in his discussion with kaizerchiefs.com saying:

“For me there is no such thing as starting too well, the first objective for us is three points, we have played two games and we have six points, in the Cup we won our first game and now we have another against Ajax. All we have to do is take it game by game.”
