Musasa was in the DRC squad for the 2004 African Cup of Nations but never featured in any of the matches after he was bizarrely listed as a defender by then coach Mick Wadsworth.
He is one of the 10 SA based players in the squad that was selected by assistant coach Joseph Mukeba.
Meanwhile, captain Lomana LuaLua has been dropped from the squad after being sent off for violent conduct in the Nations Cup finals.
The striker is missing from a list of 56 players pre-selected for the 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign, which was released by the Congolese federation Fecafoot on Wednesday.
The list includes Monaco striker Shabani Nonda, recently recovered from a long-term knee injury, and Zico Tumba, the Dutch-based striker who has not played for the side since April 1997.
LuaLua, currently on loan at premier league Portsmouth from Newcastle United, captained the Congo side at the African Nations Cup finals in Tunisia in January.
The Democratic Republic lost all three first round group matches and LuaLua was sent off in the second match against Tunisia for kicking out at an opponent.
He was heavily criticised for the incident, seen as the turning point in the Congolese campaign. He was given a three-match suspension, one of which has been served already.
Congo are to play three warm-up matches ahead of their opening group two qualifier against Uganda in Kampala on June 5.
