Kaizer Chiefs are in Cape Town to play the first of three Betway Premiership matches in the space of a week, against Cape Town City, at the DHL stadium on Sunday afternoon. Speaking exclusively to www.kaizerchiefs.com, head coach, Nasreddine Nabi expressed confidence that his players and technical team are ready and prepared for the challenging run of fixtures:

On the tight schedule of fixtures:

Playing three games in seven days makes things a little complicated because two of them are away fixtures which necessitates travel, but we have done thorough preparation. so that will help with the tight turnaround times between games. In a situation like this there is no time for training; it is play, then recover, play and recover etc. Our fitness coach has done an amazing job in getting the players ready for the challenge that awaits us.

On the current state of the squad:

We welcome some players such as Bradley Cross who have recovered from injury back in the squad, which is a bonus because he has been one of our most consistent players this season.

On whether the managerial changes at Cape Town City will be a distraction:

Every club goes through changes at various stages so it is normal in a way. We have simply told our players not to get carried away by the changes at Cape Town City because, regardless of the situation, it will be a very difficult game. We will have to concentrate for the full 90+ minutes, focusing primarily on ourselves and what we have set out to do in the match. Cape Town City are a very competitive team that did well last season. They have the quality to hurt you if you are not on your game. It is 11 v 11 on the pitch and that is all we are interested in, not what goes on elsewhere.

Message to the Amakhosi faithful:

It is an away game but we have a lot of fans in the area and appreciate the fantastic support we get in Cape Town, so it is important to us to give our loyal fanbase a match to enjoy, and a result to celebrate.

The match at DHL stadium in the Mother City kicks off at 17:45 on Sunday, 5 January.
