Valery Nahayo has signed a four year deal with Belgian football Club, K.A.A Gent after impressing the Club’s scouts earlier in the season.

“Bujumbura” as Nahayo is affectionately known to kaizerchiefs.com has undoubtedly been a pillar of strength and a shining light in a season that saw the Glamour Boys missing the ABSA Premier Championship by a whisker.

His no nonsense defending won him many accolades including Head Coach, Vladimir Vermezovic who described the Burundian as one of the most important players in his squad.

In wishing the player a successful sendoff, Football Manager Bobby Motaung said, “Kaizer Chiefs has agreed to release Valery Nahayo to pursue a long desired wish in the tough and challenging European League from 01 July 2011. We are very happy and wish he succeeds at his new home after diligently serving us for three seasons. As part of this deal, his departure has also created an opportunity for the two clubs to foster relationships beyond the transfer of players.

K.A.A. Gent Business Manager, Michel Louwagie was pleased with the professionalism showed by Kaizer Chiefs during the negotiations, “We sent two scouts to follow the player early in the season and we were impressed with what we saw. Valery will be a good addition to our defense and we have no doubt that he will make a huge contribution to the success of the Club,”

He added; “We also hope that we will be able to use this deal towards the development of a strategic partnership with Kaizer Chiefs. The Club is not only a football club but a big brand. I would like to thank the Executive Chairman, Mr. Kaizer Motaung, Directors, and Management for the professional manner in which they approached the negotiations,”
