Kaizer Chiefs defender Valery Nahayo will miss out on the Amakhosi’s next two games as he serves a suspension for picking up a red card during Chiefs weekend victory over Mpumalanga Black Aces on Saturday evening.

The lanky central defender is confident that he will still have a part to play for the Amakhosi this season, “it is unfortunate that I will not play in this important Cup game and the league encounter next week against Sundowns" lamented Nahayo.

Who is now looking forward to working his way back into contention to hopefully playing in four more games this season, “when I am back the first game will be against Ajax, that is a very important game and hopefully I get the chance to play in the match.

Football is such that you have to take the good with the bad and I am not happy to be missing out at such an important part of the season, the season is far from over for us hopefully there still is a Cup semi-final and final to come for us”.

Nahayo was sent off in the 65th minute of Chiefs’ game against Aces and as he explained to kaizerchiefs.com, he thought that Chiefs title chances had disappeared with his sending off.

“As I walked off the pitch a number of thoughts ran through my head and I was thinking if we do not win this game it will be all because of me, when I got to the change room it did pass me that I had pushed us of the league race.

By the time Jimmy Tau had scored our first goal I was up in the stands all ready and I jumped and celebrated like a fan, the team were fantastic playing a man short and winning the match they showed great resolve and the will of champions.”

Nahayo says that he will get behind the team by supporting them from the stands in their next two games, “I will drive down to Polokwane to watch the Cup game against Baroka and I will be there in the stands for the Sundowns game as well.

We are a team and it is essential for us to stand by each other whether it be on the pitch or from the stands.”
