Amakhosi midfielder Abia Nale says his professional football career might have started out away from the Chiefs, but he insists that he will only be thinking about the future and the destiny of the 2010-2011 Absa Premiership title when he faces his former team in Golden Arrows in Durban on Wednesday evening.

Nale came on as a second half substitute when Chiefs defeated another Kwa-Zulu Natal side Maritzburg United on Saturday evening and he is hoping to play a role for the Amakhosi as they travel to face Arrows.

“This is my second full season at Chiefs and I have played against Arrows before so I am accustomed to facing my old friends, I had some great memories at Arrows but now I must look forward. This game is another opportunity for us to collect more points and climb up the table.”

The Chiefs midfielder is well aware of just how tough playing against Arrows can be and is expecting a physical battle on Wednesday evening, “they have got some good results this year and we have to be aware of that, generally we know what to expect from them. Whenever we play them they always get involved in the game and make it difficult for us.”

According to Nale coming away from Durban with the full complement of points will be crucial for Chiefs in order for them to keep with the pace in the race for the league championship.

“We know that it is crucial for us to win this game because if if we drop points at this stage we will begin to fall further behind the other teams. Even if we draw and get one point out of the match at this stage of the season we need to win as many as games as possible. For us every point lost or dropped pushes us further away from the title.”

Nale does feel that with a host of different players finding the back of the net for the Amakhosi in the opening five games of 2011 they have shown that they have the personnel to step up their game when needed and deliver the goals that can ultimately assist them in winning games.

“We have shown that we are a well rounded team with strength in all departments, everyone is important from the goalkeeper through his backline to the midfielder and the front line and importantly every guy has played his part well through the season.

The good thing about this team is that we support whoever is doing well within the team and we help bring the best performances out of each other, we will hope to continue in that way and hopefully we can carry on making progress.”
