Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Mandla Masango is on the door step of starting his fourth season with The Amakhosi and has revealed to kaizerchiefs.com that the legacy left behind by former Chiefs midfield general Tinashe Nengomasha is driving him on.

On what the impact of having played with the combative and highly successful Nengomasha over the last three campaigns has had on him he added “Tinashe taught me many things while we were playing together and I also observed and picked up so many lessons from him, he told me that to survive at Chiefs you have to be extra committed,” divulged Masango.

Masango also gave the secret behind Nengomasha’s success at the club, as he further explained “he once told me that a large part of being successful at this team is down to the amount of work you put in on your own. Tinashe was a hard worker and I learnt from him to put in extra time working on my own an improving on the areas of my game where I was deficient, he was and will always be an inspiration for me”.

While Masango laments the loss of Nengomasha he does believe that Chiefs will be able to fill the void left by the Zimbabwean international, saying.

“Tinashe needed a new challenge and he went in search of that. Chiefs is such a team that we have a lot of quality and there are many players who will revel in the opportunity that will come their way as a result of his departure and they will come to the fore.”

Masango currently in the pre season camp with the Chiefs squad is hoping that the current season pans out well for the team, “the guys have been putting a lot of effort in over the last few days at training and I believe there is a lot for us to be positive about this upcoming season. When you head into a new season it is important to do so with a good feeling and the team as a whole are fired up for the new campaign”.
