Congratulations on playing the 200th game for the Club...
Everything seems to be happening fast for me. I remember making my debut against Amazulu as if it was yesterday. I have now played 200 games for the Club it is unbelievable. I must thank the Management, my teammates, those that I played with on my arrival. There are lot of things that happen in this world and I want to thank the Almighty for protecting me. I am healthy and strong as ever!
You played your 200th game in an emphatic win against Mamelodi Sundowns. That must have been special for you...
Captaining the team for the day was awesome. It was our first game in 2009 and we won. We did everything the coach asked us to do. I could not have asked for more.
What do you remember about your debut against Amazulu (03.04.2002)?
It was a night game. I remember coming out for a warm up with the rest of the guys at that time there were a few fans in the stadium. We entered the pitch for the game there must have been 40 000 fans screaming inside. You can imagine I joined Chiefs from a small club back home where we did not attract huge crowds. There were guys like Cyril (Nzama), Brain Baloyi, Patrick Mabedi, Jabu (Pule) and others so I never really got intimidated.
What is also wonderful about this is that I made my debut for the Club when Muhsin was the coach and now he is the coach again.
What is your take on the current generation of players?
We have good players like when I joined the Club. All we need to do is to believe in ourselves and work hard. No one will do us any favours. We are playing Thanda Royal Zulu this weekend, you know these guys, and they might be training three times a day just to beat us on Sunday. This means that we have to work thrice as hard as Kaizer Chiefs players because everyone wants to beat us.
You have won two league titles with the Club, five major trophies including prestigious individual awards during your time here. What is your biggest ambition now?
I want to taste the Championship again this season. Chiefs are the biggest football brand in South African and should compete with the likes of Aly, Zamalek and Conto Sport, etc. The fight for the league is on and I want to play in the Champions League next season.
