With the 2010 FIFA World Cup to draw on Yeye feels that it will put Bafana at an advantage when they kick off their qualifying campaign on Saturday, “the World Cup experience will definitely come in handy four us.
We can use it to help us when we play these qualifiers and playing at that level helps you prepare for these kinds of high intensity games and it will be a plus for us to have played in the World Cup.”
Letsholonyane is one of four Chiefs players in the 25 man Bafana team preparing for the crucial clash with Niger, he faces competition from a group of young players roped in by Bafana coach Pitso Mosimane for a place in the starting eleven.
Instead of getting him down Letsholonyane believes that having the added competition to fight off will be beneficial for him in the long term, “Its healthy competition and for me it pushes me to work harder and if the competition helps me improve my game than personally I welcome it as it well be good for me.”
Bafana will head to Nelspruit from Johannesburg later on Thursday and Letsholonyane is looking forward to watching some of Niger’s past matches in order to further prepare himself for Saturday’s challenge.
As he said, “the coach has said that for us to realise our vision of reaching the 2014 World Cup we have to win all our games and qualify for this and the next Afcon and that means we need to prepare well for each opponent, we going to sit down and analyse some of their past games and hopefully we will have sufficient information and will know how to deal with them when we get onto the field on Saturday.”
