New Year’s message from the Captain
New Year’s message from the Captain

"I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of everyone at Kaizer Chiefs to wish each and every one of you all the best in all that you endeavour in 2012.

The league will resume on February 15 and the aim is for us to move up the league table and hopefully make you proud by finishing at No. 1 in May. That is something that needs to happen and everyone at the Club from the Executive Chairman to the last Supporter will be hoping for the same.

As players we know the responsibility that comes in wearing the gold and black; that is to bring trophies and glory to the Club.

I would like to urge you to be more patient with us and don’t boo us, but rather encourage us to do more.

When the fans boo one of our players they boost the morale of the other team. Players will then start worrying about making mistakes than focusing on the game and that’s when you make more mistakes.

We will be counting on you as a 12th player on the field this year.

The Club will also turn 42 on the 7th January 2012. This is another milestone and I would like to salute the Executive Chairman, the Board, and Management, staff, the previous and current Technical Teams, coaches at the Development, the legends and each and everyone who have over the four decades devoted themselves in making this brand the No. 1 one sporting brand in the continent."

The Captain,

Itumeleng Khune
