Amakhosi striker Sthembiso Ngcobo, fresh from his weekend heroics where he played a key role in Chiefs’ Telkom Charity Cup success, was among four Bafana Bafana players who faced the media on Tuesday morning.

Ngcobo joined SuperSport United’s Morgan Gould on the podium after South Africa captain Aaron Mokoena and midfielder Dane Klate had answered questions from the press. The Chiefs striker is one of four players from the club currently with the Bafana team who will be hoping to face 2010 FIFA World Cup quarterfinalists Ghana in a friendly game at Soccer City on Wednesday evening.

In all likelihood, Ngcobo will start in a two-man attack with Katlego Mphela against the Black Stars. The Chiefs striker said he has utmost respect for Mphela. “In my opinion, Katlego is one of the best strikers in the country.”

Ngcobo is looking forward to gaining valuable experience playing alongside Mphela on Wednesday. “I look up to Katlego and I would like to be a clinical finisher just like him. I will learn a lot playing with him and I am looking forward to playing in tandem with him if I get the chance to do so on Wednesday. It will be a real honour for me.”

Over the past ten days Ngcobo has been in the ascendancy, scoring in two pre-season games, which included his injury-time header for Chiefs against Sundowns in the Telkom Charity Cup semifinals. His target is to duplicate that form for the national against Ghana.

“A lot of good things have happened for me in the last week. I am happy with what I have achieved with Chiefs so far and on a club level I hope that this is just the start. I want to do the same for the national team,” said Ngcobo, who along with club mates Siphiwe Tshabalala, Reneilwe Lethsolonyane and Itumeleng Khune could start for South Africa against Ghana.
