A well taken brace from Sthembiso “Valdez” Ngcobo in the 54th and 61st minute gave the Glamour Boys a deserved 2-1 victory against a ten man Golden Arrows at Moses Mabhida on Wednesday evening.

Collins Mbesuma scored Golden Arrows’ goal in the 68th minute.

Kaizer Chiefs who beat another KZN side last Saturday made their intentions clear as early as the 3nd minute when defender, Dominic Isaacs forced a save out of Helton De Rocha.

In the 9th minute it was Mandla Masango who unleashed a shot just outside the 18 area box forcing Helton De Rocha to dive low.

The host’s handful right back; Siyanda Zwane forced Itumeleng Khune to make a save in the 18th minute following a pass from former Chiefs midfielder, Siyabonga Nkosi.

Despite being the busier side on the evening, Chiefs failed to open the scoring in the fist half as both teams went to the tunnel tied 0-0.

The Amakhosi came smoking in the second half with Sthembiso Ngcobo grabbing his first league goal in Chiefs colours after getting on an end of substitute, Abia Nale’s superb cross.

Nale created problems for Arrows defence every time he was in possession of the ball. His combination with Reneilwe Letsholonyane was a marvel to watch.

It was not a surprise as the Glamour Boys grabbed the second goal of the evening via the right foot of Sthembiso Ngcobo who found a space in the edge of the 18 area, 2-0.

In the 68th minute burly striker, Collins Mbesuma pulled one goal back for the hosts when he beat Itumeleng Khune from a close range.

The rejuvenated striker had watched his tap in coming off the post a minute before the goal.

Arrows came strongly towards the end of the game but found Itumeleng Khune in a superb form.

The Amakhosi goalkeeper pulled two saves to deny Collins Mbesuma and Njabulo Manqana in the 80th and 84th minute respectively.

Chiefs who meet Moroka Swallows in a Soweto derby managed to hold on to the win completing a double against Golden Arrows this season.
