The new range of clothing is inspired by the club’s history as well as its success over the years in winning trophies and amassing the most number of supporters in the country.
Nike invited members of the media and various trade partners to this highly entertaining event held at the Chiefs Village, attendees included various celebrities the likes of Tshepo Mabona and Zuraida Jardine.
Amakhosi brand manager Dara Carroll commenting on the new line said, “Chiefs supporters are very passionate about their team and this range really reflects passion and I do feel the supporters will take a liking to this range.”
The Chiefs lifestyle range came about after Nike designers from the USA travelled the globe searching for inspirational football stories from each continent. In Africa, they were intrigued by the history of Kaizer Chiefs, and the inception of Diski in townships such as Soweto.
As a result these two stories are now being told around the world as part of Nike's 2006 football campaign. Not only is the product being sold at Nike Concept Stores and at Shesha in Rosebank, but in fashion capitals such as Milan, Paris and London as well.
Some of the best footballers in the world were used in Nike's international photoshoot for the campaign, including Ji Sung Park & Zlatan Ibrahimovic wearing the Kaizer range; and Cristiano Ronaldo wearing Diski.
Chiefs supporters will have the opportunity to snap up the new range when it makes its debut at the end of the month at most of the major retailers around the country.
