No barrier for Tinashe

Tinashe Nengomasha believes that the Amakhosi possess the mental strength and the will to record their first home league win against SuperSport United in over a decade when they face the defending league Champions in an Absa Premiership game on Wednesday evening at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

“We will take on SuperSport without any negative energy, they may have dominated us in the past. This is a new game and we go into the match with renewed energy and will be looking to change of that we must be positive and focused,” explained a determined Nengomasha.

According to Nengomasha Chiefs are determined to win the game and are not under any unusual pressure going into the game, as he also said, “SuperSport are the defending league champions and they have not been doing very well this season.

Beating Chiefs will make up for that, so just as much as we need to win the game to stay in the league race, they also need a win to ensure a top eight finish, which means that going into the match the reasons to win the game might be different, but I am sure both teams will want the win.

Having the experience of playing in big games and in difficult and testing circumstances in the past Nengomasha offered his view as to who will walk away with the three points on Wednesday evening.

“From the past I have learned that when you play against teams like SuperSport who are full of talented players you must have the appetite and desire to want to win the game, and that can be a great source of motivation for us. The fact that if we win the game it keeps us in the title race is also added incentive for us to fight for the three points.”

Nengomasha did not feature for Chiefs when they defeated BIDVest in a Nedbank Cup game on Sunday afternoon, and is hoping that he gets the nod to play against SuperSport on Wednesday evening.

“Its not about me it has everything to do with the team, the guys played well on Wits and did the business, it is up to the coach to decide who plays in the game. If something is not broken why would you want to fix it.”
