Head Coach, Stuart Baxter refused to make excuses following his charges’ first loss in the league this season against Platinum Stars at Phokeng, Rustenburg on Saturday.
Kaizer Chiefs had gone unbeaten in 11 league games and arrived in Phokeng with heads held up high also following an emphatic victory against Moroka Swallows midweek.
The absence of Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Eric Mathoho was seen by many as the reason for the defeat, the assertion that the Briton refuted.
“If we start saying we lost the game because of the absence of certain players we will be making excuses. There are no excuses, we lost to a better side on the day,” said Baxter putting matters into perspective.
“We knew coming here that we were going to face a tough side in Platinum Stars. I was disappointed in the way we played in the first half. We were nowhere and Stars capitalised on that.
“We tried to come back in the second half and created some openings. I still believe the players gave their best. The build ups were good but we were not as clinical in the final third.
The Glamour Boys are off this coming weekend due to Telkom Knockout fixture; “We will not play any competitive game this weekend which gives us enough time to prepare for our next game. We will be looking at bouncing back from this defeat.
Kaizer Chiefs who are still on top of the Absa Premiership face Ajax Cape Town in Polokwane on Tuesday, 04 December 2012 – kick-off 19:30.
