No guarantee of victory - Nahayo

Defender Valery Nahayo insists that despite the Amakhosi having tasted victory in four of their last five competitive outings they cannot let complacency creep into their ranks ahead of their upcoming Absa Premiership encounter with Vasco Da Gama on Saturday evening at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg.

While discussing Saturday evening’s game with kaizerchiefs.com the defensive strong man said, “we not going into the game thinking that just because we have won a couple of gameS we will automatically pick up the three points.

Our mentality is such that we know that we are going to be in for a tough night and we are ready for it. Every game is important and every point helps keep you in the title race.

As a team we are ready to work and give everything we have towards winning all our games.”

While Vasco are in their debut season in the top flight and the meeting will be the first between the teams in an official game, Nahayo feels that the Cape outfit has enough experience in their ranks to make it an exciting affair on Saturday.

“The team Vasco Da Gama might be playing for the first time in the PSL but they have players in their team who definitely cannot be termed as rookies.

There are many experienced, skillful and technically astute players in this Vasco team.

We need to be aware of that, Sibusiso Zuma most notably is one of the experienced players who has done well for them.”

In terms of being up for the challenge, Nahayo feels that he is in good physical shape and is both physically and mentally in good shape to meet the challenges that Chiefs will face with multiple fixtures in the coming weeks.

“Through the off season and continuing on through the season I have kept myself in good shape and it has helped me to be able to play whenever I am needed.

There is a month to go for the December break and we have around seven games. Not just me but the entire squad is in good shape and with a tough schedule like that it is important that we are fit.”
