Amakhosi midfielder Mandla Masango who was on a midweek sojourn with the national U-23 team to Egypt where he along with Chiefs teammates Lawrence Tlou Molekwane and George Lebese helped Ephraim Shakes Mashaba’s team earn a commendable 1-1 draw with their Egyptian counterparts. Is ready and fired up as he aims to help The Amakhosi get their title aspirations back of track when they host BIDVest Wits in an Absa Premiership fixture on Saturday night at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

“The trip to Egypt was good because I got to play in a tough competitive game which was good match practice for me and I am more than ready should I be given the opportunity to play against Wits and my aim will be to ensure that we come back from Polokwane with a win.”

The crafty Masango who displayed good touches when coming on the field as a second half substitute during Chiefs loss to Free State Stars last weekend is also looking forward towards making up for last weekend’s defeat.

“The game against Free State Stars had good and bad moments for me, I was happy to have been able to come off the bench and help the team fight back the way we did. I was disappointed with the fact that I missed numerous chances to have scored and I know that we could have at least have salvaged a point from the game.

I have learned from my mistakes from that game and if I get given the chance again to play there is no way I am going to miss the target if opportunities fall my way.”

For Masango it is not just about making amends for missed opportunities as much as it is helping Chiefs get back into the championship race, “we have lost our last two games which is not ideal for us and if the coach shows the confidence in me and gives me the chance to play I must repay him by ensuring that we win in Polokwane.

We are at an advantage because we played their last month against Santos in a Cup game and we know what the conditions are like playing there, we need to make that count for us.”
