Obua believes Chiefs will win their third title as long as they remain confident and focused on the task at hand, and treat every game with the same high level of importance. The Ugandan international who has been a revelation in his first season with Chiefs says that nothing can be left to chance, “for us these next four matches are not games, it really is war for us” says Obua.
The lanky midfielder is of the opinion that with the right kind of attitude Chiefs could still be holding aloft the trophy come 13th May. Obua added “from here on onwards, every time we walk on the field of play we should know that we are actually going in to the battle field. We cannot under or over estimate any opponent in our next two games. We need to win and win big to send out a message that we are nowhere near out of the Championship race”.
As the run into the season gets under way with just over a month of football to play, Obua and company do not have the comfort of being able to drop points, a fact that the hard working players is only too aware of. “The destiny of the title really is in our hands, I mean if we want to win the championship we need maximum points from our remaining matches and not rely solely on other teams getting results for us against Pirates and Sundowns” Obua said.
With Pirates and Sundowns busy with the business of the African Champions League this weekend, Chiefs are once again presented with the opportunity to go top of the PSL table. A fact known only too well to The Amakhosi, Chiefs will be looking to get back on top and stay there for the rest of the season. Chiefs take on Classic this Sunday (02-04-06) at the Kings Park Soccer Stadium in Durban in a bid to once again stake their claim to the top spot in the league.
