“I am really fired up for this game and I do not want to lose, three points are three points and sentiments won’t get in the way of me doing my job. In the build up to the game yes I have been thinking about my days as an Ajax player but when we on the field it is all about doing the business and winning the game.”
Isaacs believes that for the Amakhosi to be successful against fourth placed Ajax they need to continue playing with the same defensive discipline that they have played with for most of their last twelve games.
Of this he said, “as a defensive group we set a goal at the start of the season and our wish is to concede the least number of goals in the league this season. I feel that we have improved from the previous season and as a defensive unit we can only get better.
A few seasons back the club only conceded 11 goals in the league, which is phenomenal and we have those kinds of performances with which we set our standard against.”
On a personal note Isaacs is pleased to have played regularly for Chiefs this season after having been unable to hold down a regular place in the starting eleven during his first two seasons with the club.
“It is really good for me to have played the amount of games that I have this season, my first and second seasons were difficult for me. Last season the coach was looking for a winning combination, I accept I was not part of that winning combination.
I did not give up and told myself I had to work hard convince the coach that I can still play a role in the Kaizer Chiefs set up. Thankfully he gave me a chance and I hope I have not disappointed.”
Isaacs is also pleased to have one of his former teammates at Ajax Cape Town link up with him at the Amakhosi, of the arrival of Stanton Lewis on loan from Ajax at Chiefs for the rest of the campaign he said.
“If Stanton works hard like I know he will he will do well at Chiefs, Ajax Amsterdam saw potential in him, at Chiefs everything away from the field is taken care of it is up to him to do the job on the field of play.”
