No wholesale changes – Baxter

“There will be no wholesale changes on Tuesday,” insists Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter ahead of the Glamour Boys trip to Polokwane to face Supersport United in an Absa Premiership fixture. “There is no shifting gears or change of mentality from the weekend. We take all the games coming our way with the same competitive spirit.”

The match will take place at the Polokwane’s Peter Mokaba Stadium on Tuesday, 17 February 2015, kick-off at 19h30.

“We have collected some information on United,” adds Baxter. “We have a game plan and a plan of execution for tomorrow”

Chiefs resumed their league campaign in 2015 with a goalless draw away to Bloemfontein Celtic and played a CAF Champions League match over the past weekend. Baxter is not perturbed by the fixtures coming thick and fast. ”We don’t have a problem with the PSL fixtures even though there is little work you can do in between the fixtures. It is hectic but that’s the way it is, its ok.”

Matsatsantsa are placed eighth on the Absa Premiership log. But despite their relatively low ranking, Baxter rates them as a tough side to play against. “United are one of the top sides in the PSL. Besides that, they were active during the January transfer window period. They strengthened their squad, we expect a tough match.”

The Soweto side has claimed 23 points from nine away matches this season. Amakhosi are placed first on the Absa Premiership log. “We are not counting matches or points at this stage, we take it one game at a time,” says Baxter.

“We have a full squad bar for Tsepo Masilela who will undergo the late fitness test,” concludes Baxter before embarking on the team bus for a 320kms trip up north.

In head-to-head stats, SuperSport and Chiefs have met in 48 league matches since 1990:

Matsatsantsa have 18 wins compared to 17 for Amakhosi, while 13 matches have been drawn

SuperSport have won seven of their 23 home matches against Chiefs, suffering seven defeats in the process.
