The amateur side came to South Africa following the invitation from Norwegian born Premier Soccer League CEO, Kjetil Siem as Coach, Freddie Risan explained to kaizerchiefs.com; “The kids in Norway are on holiday as the school season is from September to May. Kjetil, who has his son in our team, sent an invitation and the parents, who also came through with us, were willing to finance the trip for their boys.”
“Fjellhamar is an amateur side just outside Oslo and we also thought it would benefit the kids if we brought them to South Africa, a country that hosted the last World Cup and also a country with a different culture. As you can see for yourself the boys are having great time here.”
“We are stunned with the facilities here at Kaizer Chiefs Village. On our arrival we were presented with the Club’s jersey with their names printed on the back of the jersey. It is a once in a life time experience for us,” concluded Risan.
Sivert Siem (15) who plays as a left back joined Risan in heaping praise on the facilities at the Village, “This is the first time that we have trained on a natural grass pitch. Back home we are used to artificial pitches. I stayed in South Africa for three years and I enjoyed my stay here…my teammates, as you can see, are having great time here.”
“On our arrival we were taken to the dressing room and all of them were excited to see the locker of Siphiwe Tshabalala who is obviously well known around the world following that stunning goal in the last World Cup. They took pictures and so on & we are having such a great time and I would like to thank Kaizer Chiefs for affording us an opportunity to come here.”
Fjellhamar will play a series of friendly games against the likes of Orlando Pirates Development, Soweto XI and Platinum Stars. They will also have an opportunity to watch the Nedbank Final between Orlando Pirates and Black Leopards at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.
