“After the camp and pre-season training we’ve had so far, I think the guys are looking to getting the season started,” comments Siphelele Ntshangase as Kaizer Chiefs gear up to fire on all cylinders in the 2019/20 season.
“As you know, we have a big game on Saturday, and everyone is looking sharp. Everything we’ve been doing throughout our pre-season has been with the intent of improving in the new season,” continues Ntshangase.
The big game in question is the already a sold-out affair between two of South Africa’s football giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates who will lock horns in the 2019 Carling Black Label Cup.
Ntshangase has made the line up as voted for by the fans and will be part of the Chiefs midfield on Saturday in his first Carling Black Label Cup.
“I’d like to thank the supporters. Without them I wouldn’t be taking to the field so I’m extremely grateful that they’re showing their appreciation and support,” he says gleefully.
Pirates have won the trophy four times while Chiefs, with three wins, have an opportunity to do a three-peat that would put both clubs on four apiece. Amakhosi won the last two editions, winning 1-0 in 2017 and 2-0 in 2016.
“The most important thing is to get ourselves sharp for the new season, however, winning the cup will provide us with an extra momentum boost when the season starts.
“Going forward, I’d like to stake my claim in the squad by playing every week and help the team. Our supporters are looking forward to seeing that player and my goal is to give them that performance of a high standard,” concluded our No. 10.
Kaizer Chiefs take on Orlando Pirates in the 8th installment of the Carling Black Label Cup on Saturday, 27 July with kick-off scheduled for 15:00. Tickets are SOLD OUT.
